A few drops of one of these four bath oils by Shu Uemura, and the water will turn opalescent and the tub will exhale marvelous scents. Sakura, the cherry blossom with its hint of bitter almond, brings back the mild days of spring, when the trees of Japan cloak themselves in pink. Shobu is the iris flower that, according to an old belief, lends energy and fortitude: it makes the bath all peppy. Hinoki, the precious cypress tree, smells like a delicious dive into primeval forests. And Yuzu, the citron fruit, soothes the skin and wraps it in sweet warmth.

To start a day of cocooning without Kenzoki products at hand: what heresy would that be? Choosing from the collection's four flavors, we'll skip the spicy ginger and energizing bamboo leaf - they won't fit today's mood. We'll rather opt for the sensuous rice steam and the white lotus, a flower for relaxation. The evocative and playful names of each product are wonderful illlustrations of their properties. With the Milky Rice Body Scrub, Twilight Cream or Bare Body Night Cream, we don't risk getting bored all alone in a large bed; while the Exfoliating Gentlemask, Cosmic Cosmetic Cream, or Fresh Lotus Water soothe even the most sensitive skins, to the point of slowing down the blood flow inside their tiny vessels. We'd love to live forever within the small world of Kenzoki...

Lann Ael range, Lostmarc'h
www.lostmarch.fr
Lostmarc'h is the name of a very Bretonne beach: suspended on the edge of the world and swept by great winds, rich in strangely-shaped pebbles that bear the smell of the ocean and wet sand. But the perfumery brand that bears its name is wise enough not to confine its fragrances to the scents of the sea and the weed-grown sandhills. The Lann Ael range, for instance, whose name translates to "Angel Heath", smells strongly of... hot cake, a delicious apple and vanilla pie. A perfume to be worn indoors, where it's nice and warm, while expecting the return of the sailors under a heavy rain.

Voluptuous curves and a generous, comfortable bulk: Silvera's Fat Sofa is an invitation to laziness. It can be huddled in all day long, when we're perfumed and all dolled up, if possible after a Zen bath. It is, then, superfluous to get dressed - this deck chair is large enough to accomodate both us and the boyfriend.

Just like us, Laura Mercier didn't really want the season to end. Her Indian Summer collection brings it back by force, on our lips for instance. Maybe that is why it's still so warm here in Paris?

Smoky tones of ash, stone, earth... For this fall, Bobbi Brown serializes the browns and grays to form a palette comprising seven matte or shimmering eye shadows. The textures are silky-smooth, the nuances delicate, and each shadow bears an eerie, evocative resemblance to the material it's named after. For spy movie heroines, who prefer to extort information from gangster socialites at private parties in luxury chalets, Paul & Joe offer these outfits. The kings of the underworld will quarrel to come whisper their secrets in our ear. Beware: these outfits are not appropriate for ski chases or embassy infiltrations. Even James Bond doesn't work like that now anyway.

Exhibition Fragonard, Les Plaisirs d'un siècle, from 3 October 07 to 13 January 08
Musée Jacquemart-André 158, boulevard Haussman Paris 8° +33 1 45 62 11 59
To Fragonard, any subject was interesting as long as one could derive pleasure from it: the pleasure of painting it, that of watching it, and the pleasure of imagination. From the court to the rustic countryside, from aristocratic libertinage to the heroes of mythology, from a modern sultana to the ancient poets; and sometimes, these all went together. The exhibition at the Musée Jacquemart-André is the ideal promenade to prepare an afternoon siesta with one's lover.

The Grassmat store was opened in Paris a few months ago by two young ladies who don't relish especially the sight of a sunrise. It's the secret base of operations where the informed idler get their supplies. Beauty products and sweet delights look about the same here, next to the mandatory cushions and the thick woollen blankets, or the fur-clad mules, scented candles, and velvety peignoirs. You'll also find all that's needed for a breakfast in bed (to be prepared by someone else of course).

www.baobabcollection.com
After a long afternoon out, we'll celebrate our Home Sweet Home by lighting a candle from Baobab Collection, a brand imagined by Belgian designer Valérie Bietlot somewhere between South Africa and Tanzania. The largest candle, made by hand like all the others in Wavre, Wallonia, stands 40 cm-tall (that's 1.3 feet!), burns through seven wicks and lasts 800 hours. That's entire weeks that a part of us will spend dreaming of the morning dew on the wide plains of Africa, or the fringe of deep, dark forests wherein the rhinoceros may venture. Under the influence of Wild Grass' notes of herb and tarragon, the mind journeys towards a tan tent, carefully camouflaged in the savannah's high grass, where we'd lay on coarse, comforting carpets. Outside the rain season is under way, and torrents pour down on our cotton shelter. Under the immense trees, the lions shake their dripping mane before they set off on the hunt.

A beautiful book, a cup of tea, candlelight. Outside the sky is turning pale. All that's left to do is coil up inside this resting bed by Moissonnier - a replica of the one Madame Sévigné used to muse upon. The dreams there are always soothing.
